King Ratsnake (Elaphe carinata)

This species is widely distributed in the palearctic and oriental regions of Asia. King ratsnakes grow to 150-180cm in length with recorded specimens of up to 240cm known. Carinata has a stout build and heavily keeled scales. Juveniles are a drab olive color and undergo an ontogenetic color change. Adults are a beautiful shade of orange and black. This is a very alert and active species, photos soon.
