These are a large, challenging and misunderstood species from New Guinea. This is the largest python species on the island of New Guinea averaging lengths of 10 to 14 feet, with larger specimens documented. Papuan pythons are extremely powerful and often consume other snakes including members of it's own species. Low numbers of imports and lack of captive breeding successes makes this one of the least understood python taxons in captivity.
